What each component does

| Safety sensing | Addresses door movement hazards as part of the assessed safety arrangement. |
| Assistance signal | Requests help at a defined destination, with a facility response procedure. |
Before the site assessment
- Identify the door and what it serves: entrance, internal route or washroom.
- Record the door type, number of leaves and existing operator model.
- Describe the problem or improvement you want in ordinary language.
- List access-control, privacy and assistance functions that need coordination.
- Identify building approvals, site contacts, work hours and target dates.
- Keep access codes, patient information and confidential plans out of the initial enquiry.
Ask for a documented scope
Look for equipment, interfaces, responsibilities, installation arrangements and verification requirements. Clarify what work belongs to electrical, security or other trades, and which assumptions still depend on a site review.
For washrooms, distinguish component selection from the room layout and the required operating sequence. A diagram that explains roles cannot establish compliance for a building.
