Touchless activation

Wave-to-open installation

Give people a clear, hands-free way to open a commercial door. Start with the complete opening: the activation device, automatic operator, door hardware and the people using it.

A small gesture. A properly assessed door system.

A wave-to-open sensor sends an activation signal; it does not physically move the door. A new installation therefore starts by checking whether the opening has an appropriate automatic operator and whether the door, frame and hardware can support the intended operation. Entrances, internal circulation doors and washrooms each need a different assessment.

Assessment priorities

Touchless activation: review priorities

  • Door size, weight, swing and mechanical condition
  • User approach, clear space and control visibility
  • Power, cable routes and operator activation input
  • Lock release, safety devices and operating modes

Scoping wave-to-open installation

The proposed scope identifies the activation device, operator work, electrical coordination, mounting, signage and functional checks. Existing components are retained only where their condition and compatibility support the project. Installation scheduling and availability are confirmed for the site address.

Your touchless activation brief

Tell us what the door serves, how people use it and whether an automatic operator is already fitted. An equipment model number and a description of the current controls help distinguish a sensor upgrade from a full operator project.

Can a wave sensor open a manual door?

The sensor alone cannot move a manual door. A suitable automatic operator and associated hardware are needed, subject to assessment.

A deliberate request to open

Control placement and approach are assessed together. The sensor requests activation; the operator provides movement.
